The Environmental Management Bureau – Central Office (EMB-CO) conducted the Training Workshop on the Conduct of the Stack Emission Testing of Air Pollution Source Installation (APSI) (Cluster 1) at the Axiaa Hotel Manila, 135 West Ave., Quezon City last December 2 to 6, 2019. The event was headed by the Sampling Assessment Team (SAT) composed of technical staff from the Regions 3, 4A, NCR, and the Air Quality Management Section Staff of the EMB-CO. The participants of the training were focal person for stack testing and alternate focal personnel from EMB Luzon Regions NCR, CAR, 1, 2, 3, 4A, and 4B.

Engr. William P. Cuñado, Bureau Director of the EMB, welcomed the participants from the different EMB Regional Offices in Luzon.

The objective of the training is to capacitate the EMB technical focal personnel on the procedure and operation of approved sampling equipment for industrial source monitoring, safety procedures, recovery procedures, calibration procedures, and QA/QC of Source Emission Test (SET) reports.

As part of the continuing development of the Bureau’s capability, it was agreed during the workshop to propose SET equipment in the Forward Estimates to ensure the application of learnings during the workshop.

In view of the issuance of DAO 2019 – 21, this Office has planned to procure Method 23 accessories for the determination of Dioxins and Furans from Waste-to-Energy (WtE) facilities and to further conduct advanced SET training workshops.
