The Environmental Management Bureau – Central Office (EMB-CO) conducted the Training on the Basic Stack Emission Testing (Method 1 to 5 for Particulate Matter (PM), Method 7 for Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx), Method 8 for Sulfur Dioxide (SO2) and Method 10 for Carbon Monoxide (CO)), “Principles of Combustion and Combustion Technologies”, and the “Operating Principles and Basic Design Principles of Air Pollution Control Devices / Facilities (APCD/F) at the Dotties Place Hotel & Restaurant, Butuan City last July 1 to 5, 2019. The event was headed by the Sampling Assessment Team (SAT) composed of technical staff from the Regions 3, 4A, NCR, and the Air Quality Management Section Staff of the EMB-CO. The participants of the training were focal person for stack testing and alternate focal personnel from EMB Regions 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13.

 

The objective of the training is to capacitate the EMB technical focal personnel on the procedure and operation of approved sampling equipments for industrial source monitoring.

Engr. Albert G. Arcamo, Regional Director of the EMB – Caraga, welcomed the participants from the different EMB Regional Offices in Mindanao. He gived thanks to the Air Quality Management Section – EMB CO for choosing Caraga as the venue of the activity.

DENR Caraga Regional Executive Director, Atty. Felix S. Alicer, gave the opening remarks for the training workshop. He asserted that it is important to assess the work of the 3rd party testing firms through validation of their work to ensure proper sampling procedures and safe handling and custody of samples.
