The Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) received a Plaque of Appreciation from the University of the Philippines Diliman-College of Science (UPD-CS) for its invaluable involvement for the “Technology Transfer by Adopting New Technology and Innovation” on the air quality monitoring programs of the Bureau. The award was received by representatives from the EMB-Air Quality Management Section during the Innovation-Research Fair held on April 29-30, 2024. The Innovation-Research Fair is an initiative of the UPD-CS to bridge the gap between scientists who develop novel inventions and entrepreneurs who produce these inventions for public use. Dr. Mylene Cayetano, a Professor and University Scientist from UPD-CS Institute of Environmental Science and Meteorology (IESM) for the Air Quality Monitoring Campaign said, “The award is a fitting recognition for EMB’s active involvement in innovation. Featuring innovative campaign designed for developing environmental guidelines into policy has significantly contributed to the success of the “Innovation-Research Fair.” The Air Quality Monitoring Stations set up by the EMB nationwide and the data they provide are essential for the development and updating of air quality guidelines, policies, and regulations. The integration of advanced monitoring technologies, comprehensive data analysis, and scientific research ensures that air quality standards are based on the best available evidence, protecting public health and the environment. #
